My password appears in the login box whenever I visit Connecting Singles. How do I stop this?
First of all, this is your Browser, NOT Connecting Singles, that is saving your password for you and putting it into the login box on Connecting Singles. Connecting Singles has no control over this.
Fortunately you can fix this. See directions below:
If your password automatically appears in the login box, it means Password Manager is enabled on your computer. You enabled it the first time you came to Connecting Singles (or any other site), when your browser gave you a pop-up message asking if you wanted to save your login info for this site. If you clicked yes, your username and password would automatically be entered into the login box every time you came to this site using that computer, and anyone after you could sign in as you also. This is a Browser setting and has nothing to do with this website.
You can disable that auto-login feature (see below for Firefox instructions). To protect your privacy, you should NOT use Password Manager if you share a computer with anyone else, or use a computer in a library or other public place. If you are concerned about your password on the site, you should change it - click on Edit Profile in top nav, and then click on Change Password.
Firefox: Directions for disabling auto login
Password Manager is on by default. To turn it off:
- Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
- From the Privacy & Security category, choose Web Passwords. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.)
- In the Password Manager section, deselect "Remember passwords for sites that require me to log in" to turn Password Manager off.
Managing Stored Passwords
To see a list of the user names and passwords you have stored:
- Open the Tasks menu, choose Privacy & Security, and then choose Password Manager.
- Select View Stored Passwords from the submenu. You see the Password Manager window.
- Click the Passwords Saved tab. You see a list of all the stored user names. (Passwords are not listed.)
- To remove a user name, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked to enter your password.
- Click the Passwords Never Saved tab to see a list of the web sites for which you instructed Password Manager never to store user names. To remove a web site from this list, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked if you want Password Manager to save the user name and password for this site. Click "No".
The login page keeps appearing
If you repeatedly get bounced back to the login screen, with no message about an incorrect username or password, this is probably caused by your browser not retaining your login information correctly. To fix this you need to enable cookies on your browser.

BLOCKING
How can I block a member and keep them from contacting me?
The best way to handle unwanted mail is to Block the member that you do not want to communicate with. Click on the BLOCK THIS MEMBER FROM CONTACTING ME button inside an incoming message/flower/eCard from him/her and they will no longer be able to send you mail/flowers/eCards/IMs, and they will get a message about being blocked when they try – so they will know you don’t appreciate what they have previously sent.
If the member has displayed bad manners or bad taste, the Block feature is the best solution. However, you should report anyone who you suspect of scam or illegal activity to: Report Abuse.
How do I UN-block a member once I've blocked them?
Go to your Blocked List (a link for your Blocked List is located in the left sidebar of your Mailbox and Flowerbox pages). When on your Blocked List find the person you want to unblock, then click the "unblock this member" button next to their profile. This will delete them from your blocked list and they will be able to contact you again.
How do I block members from a certain location, age group or marital status from mailing me?
Go to your Edit Profile page and click on Filter Settings, then check the boxes next to the locations of members where you WANT TO HEAR FROM (any areas you don't want to hear from, you should uncheck the box); select the age-range of members you want to hear from, then select the marital status, and relationship types. Then click "submit".
Choices you make on this page will determine and limit who can contact you. Mail and flowers filtered out by the settings you choose, will go into your Filterbox on your mail and flower pages. Senders of filtered mail are given notice that it will be filtered and you may not receive it.

UPLOADING PHOTOS
How do I upload a photo to my Profile?
You may have up to 8 photos with your profile.
- Once logged in, click on Edit Profile in the top navigation bar, then click on Upload new Photo.
- Click the Browse button and a file dialog window will appear on your screen.
- Locate the path of the image file you wish to upload and double click on it. The file dialog window will disappear.
- Then click "Upload Photo" button on the Photo page.
Thumbnails of the photos you upload will appear on the middle of the page. These thumbnails are only the small version of your photo used in search results. A full version of the photo will be seen on your profile page.
Reminder: Your PRIMARY photo MUST be of YOU and show YOUR face clearly. Other photos may be secondary photos.
Photos should be in a .jpg file format, no larger than 200kb in size.
I am having trouble uploading or emailing my photo.
Large photos take a long time to upload. They may time out. If you have trouble uploading or emailing your photo, the photo file is probably too large or it was not in the right file format (must be .jpg format).
If possible, reduce the size or resolution of your photos and try them again. Photos must be in a .jpg format. 200-400 pixels in size is best.
If you still have trouble, you can email your photos to us or send them in the mail and we will add them to your profile for you. See sections below on how to send your photos by email and how to send your photos by mail.
How do I send my photos to CS by EMAIL?
Go to the Photos page for details.
How do I send my photos to CS by MAIL?
Go to the Photos page for details. We will scan your photos for you and upload them to your profile. We provide this service FREE of charge to our members!
What format and size does ConnectingSingles.com accept?
ConnectingSingles.com accepts JPG/JPEG format only. If you have a photo in a format other than JPG/JPEG, please convert it, or send it to us by email or mail and we will convert it for you. Your photo must not exceed 200kb. If it is larger than this, you can make the file smaller by cropping out unnecessary background, shrinking the width and height of your photo, or reducing the resolution.
Why did my photo get deleted (or get moved from being primary)?
Photos are an option, not a requirement. If you wish to have a photo with your profile, upload photos according to the rules. Photos that break the rules or are not appropriate for this site are deleted.
Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your photo represents you to members who don't know you and, like it or not, you will be judged by what you choose to display. So think about what your photos 'say' about you.
PHOTO RULES:
- PRIMARY photo must be of YOU and must show YOUR face clearly.
- Do NOT include CHILDREN for SAFETY reasons.
- Must match your stated gender.
- No celebrities, models, copyrighted or altered images, cartoons, or drawings.

IM/Chat Problems for more information
How do I chat privately with another member?
There are several ways to do this:
- You can click the green "IM Me" button while viewing a member's profile. This will popup an IM window where you can chat with the member. (The green IM button appears only when a member is online).
- When you are in a Public Chatroom, you can chat privately with another chat-user by doing one of the following:
- IM them: Click on their username on the username list on the left. Their info and picture will load in the window in the lower left of the chat. Then click the IM button underneath their picture. A private chat window will load for both of you, so you can chat between the two of you. Other members will not know about your private chat or be able to read it. (the IM window will not load on the other member's side until after you type something and press the "send" button)
- Whisper to them: In a Public Chatroom window, you can "whisper" to another member. This means that you can type a message into the public chat window that only one other member can see. They will see your private message along with the public messages that everyone else sees in the public chat window. But only the user with the username you type, will see your message.
For example, if you want to type a private message to Tallbrunette22, type the following:<Tallbrunette22>: this is a private message. This is called a "whisper". Be careful to do this correctly, otherwise other members in the chatroom will see what you write.
I would like to see who is IMing me before I accept
If you have popups enabled for this site, you will see who is IMing you. click here for how to enable popups.
With popups enabled, the IM window will popup with the member's username, age, location, and photo. You will then have the option to: 1) accept their invitation and start chatting; 2) decline their invitation and type 'no thanks'; 3) To refuse the IM by simply closing the IM window.
I am trying to IM a member, but they are not answering?
- Make sure to type a message and press "send" button. The IM doesn't load on their end until you type and SEND the first message.
- Be patient. It may take a minute for the IM to popup on their screen.
- They may have recently logged off and are no longer on the site to receive your IM.
- They may not have a browser that will work with the IM.
- They may simply not have time, or they may not want to chat at this time.
- They may already be IMing with someone right now.
- Members have the right to refuse any request for IM. Don't react rudely. Don't keep IMing them. If they don't want to IM, it will only irritate them. Find someone else to IM with or visit the chatrooms or forums.
- You can try again later, or send them an email.
To add the member you are chatting with to your Favorites List:
Click the "+" button in the upper right of the IM window, and the member will be added to your Favorites List. You can access your Favorites List by clicking on Favorites in the top navigation bar.
To Block/Unblock a member from IMing with you while in chatroom:
Click the button underneath the "+" button in the upper right of the chat window, if it says "Block", then clicking the button will block the member from chatting with you. If it says "Unblock" then the member is already blocked and clicking the button will unblock the member and enable chatting again. The Block button will block the member from IMing you, and you will no longer be able to see what the member types in the public chat.
How do I view the member's profile while in the IM?
Click the grey button with the member's username in it. The member's profile will load in the window BEHIND the IM.
What are the IM rules, and will I get banned for breaking them?
You must know and follow the rules to use the IM. Failing to do so, could result in you being banned from the IM or from the site. IM/Chat are features that most sites charge for. IM and chat are free on this site, but you must follow the rules! Rule breakers WILL be removed with or without notice!

- No bashing this site or the moderators here. This is a free site… if you don’t like the way things are handled here, you are as free to leave as you were to join.
- Members have the right to refuse any request for person-to-person chat from another member. Don’t react rudely. Find someone else to chat with.

MAIL
I am not receiving mail notices from ConnectingSingles when I get email on the site.
We DO notify you! Did you register a valid email address? Have you whitelisted Connecting Singles for delivery with your email provider? Is your off-site email box full?
If you are not receiving our mail, the notice may have gone into your Bulk or Junk folder. Many email providers will not deliver mail unless we are approved by you. click here for directions to approve and whitelist Connecting Singles for delivery or check with your email provider. Otherwise, you won't receive our cool mail notices and your profile may be deleted if our mail to you bounces back... You don't need to worry... we NEVER share email addresses with any other party and we NEVER send spam.
Keep your email address current. Don't miss out on mail notices, or risk having your profile deleted due to mail bouncebacks.
My mail disappeared with a member I was talking to
Mail may disappear for various reasons:
- Old mail (over 30 days old) is removed from time to time to save on site resources.
- The sender may cancel and leave the site.
- The sender may have been removed from the site by staff. (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from other members, etc. When a member gets banned, their mail automatically disappears.)
- A member's profile and mail may be deleted because they registered an email address that isn't valid and mail notices to them bounce back.
I received a notice that I have mail on the site, but it is not there.
We remove mass mailers, solicitors, spammers and scammers and when we do, their mail is automatically deleted also. This is for your protection. If you receive a notice but see no mail, it means the profile was removed after your notice went out.
Why are my messages blocked or filtered?
Many members filter mail because they don't want to communicate with members outside of their own area, age range or marital status preference. Members can set their mail preferences using the Filter Settings page. Connecting Singles has no control over member email preferences. You can do a Search for members in your own area, where you will not be filtered.
Members can block specific members from contacing them by clicking the "block" button in an incoming message or flower.
How do I contact another member?
An Email button appears for each member on their profile and on search results. Click the button, and you will be taken to a Compose page to type your message and subject. Click "Send Message" and your message will be sent to the member’s onsite Inbox. A copy of your message will go to your outbox.
How do I view my inbox? (mail I have received)
Click Mailbox on the top navigation bar and a list of your incoming messages will appear. To view a message, click on the subject of the message. A NEW incoming message will have a yellow background, and will say "No" under the "Opened" column. A message you have OPENED will have a white background, and will say "Yes" under the opened column. A staff message will always have a purple background.
How do I view my outbox? (mail I have sent)
Click Mailbox on the top navigation bar then click the Outbox Tab to view your sent messages. To view a message you sent, click on the subject of the message.
What is a filterbox? Where does filtered mail come from?
When someone tries to email you whose age, location, martial status, or relationship type doesn't match what you've specified in your Filter Settings, then their mail goes into your Filterbox. The sender will be warned that it will go into your filterbox, and you will not receive a notice about the mail, but it will be there in case you want to read it.
Don't respond to filtered mail unless you want ongoing future communication. Once you respond, filter settings for that member will be removed.
How do I view my mail history with another member?
When viewing a message, click the "mail history" link. Or, when on the Mailbox page, click on the "history" icon for each message to access your mail history with the sender.

Yes you can. In your Outbox, look at the "Opened" column where it will tell you whether the person opened your message or not.
If I delete a sent message, does it delete it from the receiver's inbox?
No. If you delete a sent message, it will stay in the receiver's inbox. Once you send a message to someone, you cannot take it back or delete it from their inbox.
If I delete my messages by mistake, can staff restore it for me?
No, deleted mail cannot be restored. The mail system is automated. Staff cannot delete or restore it.

Go to your Edit Profile page and click on Filter Settings, then check the boxes next to the locations of members where you WANT TO HEAR FROM (you should uncheck the box next to any areas that you don't want to hear from). Then click "submit".
I am not getting responses to the mail I sent. My mail is not being opened. What is wrong?
We notify members when they receive onsite mail. If they have provided a valid email address, they will receive those notices; if not, they won't get the notices and it may be longer until they return to the site and see what you have sent. It is their choice to login and check their mail, and it is their choice whether or not to open or respond. We have no control over any of this.
If you are not willing to wait for a response, send mail only to members whose last activity date is recent.
If a member does not open or respond to your mail, they may not have time to answer, they may be receiving too much mail already, they may be corresponding with someone special already, or they may just not be interested in your profile. Find someone else to write to...
It takes a lot of time and patience to find someone special. Don't give up. There is someone out there for you. That person may join tomorrow.
In the meantime, give members a reason to write to you. Help others get to know you. Add positive, upbeat info to your narratives about yourself, describe more about what you are seeking in your match, add some new photos, fill out the extended profile. Also, check out the Forums area of the site. Many members have a lot of fun meeting and talking there while waiting to meet ‘the one’. Add a blog about your thoughts or experiences to let others know more about you and possibly attract someone who feels the same (note that a blog is a journal - not a personal ad).
Use site features to bring more attention to your profile and mail to your inbox. Click here to learn how to get more views to your profile.
I registered, but it said I can't send mail yet.
You can't send mail to other members until your profile has been approved. You may start using all the features of the site as soon as your profile is approved. All features of the site are TOTALLY FREE TO USE. There are no surprise fees or hidden charges for sending or receiving messages, or any other feature. Click here for more about profile approval.
We assume that you have read our Terms of Use and have entered valid, tasteful information when you registered. If that is not the case, or we suspect so, your profile will NOT be approved and will be deleted without notice.

PROFILE
Why did my profile get deleted?
Your profile may have been deleted for one of the following reasons:
- You submitted an invalid email address or other invalid information
- You do not reside within membership area - if your location is not on list, you may not join.
- You used a proxy to access the site.
- You did not complete your profile
- You entered gibberish in narratives
- You entered narrative text that is not appropriate for the site
- You used the site for soliciting or advertising, posting a URL.
- You posted inappropriate or offensive content to the forums.
- We received complaints about your profile or your behavior on the site.
- You entered more than one profile. You already have a profile here
- You are not single.
- You are under 18 (or at least your photo looks that way).
We do not notify you if your profile is deleted.
Why did my photo get deleted?
Refer to the Uploading Photos section on Why did my photo get deleted?
Someone I was talking to disappeared from the site. Where are they?
There are several reasons why a member might disappear from the site:
- The member has been removed from the site by staff (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from members, etc.)
- The member has hidden their profile
- The member has cancelled their profile
- If you are trying to find them via a username search, you may have misspelled their username.
Can members be banned from this site?
This site has rules to protect members and their experience here. Knowing, accepting and following the rules is required for membership. It is not site staff's responsibility to warn you when you break them.
- Members who break the rules or whose behavior on the site, blogs, or forums is unacceptable may be removed without warning.
- Members who attempt to use the site for reasons other than dating (such as soliciting of ANY kind, money or romance scam, building mailing lists, identity theft, multiple or fake profiles, or any suspicious activity) will be removed without notice.
- Members under legal age will be removed.
- If the profile of someone you have been communicating with suddenly disappears, they have likely been removed for safety and quality of the site and members. No warning or notice will be sent.
Although it's common to hear a banned member complain about the rules, or that members who reported them got them banned...this is NOT true! When banning is necessary, it was the member's own bad behavior that got them banned. Members are adults and held accountable for their own actions here.
Can I change my username?
No, your username cannot be changed. You can change everything else about your profile by clicking Edit Profile in the top nav to make all other changes.
Why isn't my profile approved yet? Is something wrong?
Profiles submitted are checked by the system and normally approved shortly after registration. Approval may be delayed if your profile requires manual attention due to your profile info not being complete or accurate. If your location, email address or profile info is not valid, if you enter gibberish, urls or email addresses in your narratives, or if you use a proxy to access the site, your profile will be put on hold.
We believe that good relationships are built on honesty. If you register false information, your profile will not be approved, or it will be deleted without notice when found or reported.
Heavy staff workload may also cause profile approval delays.
How do I tag my profile?
Refer to the Tags section on How do I tag my profile?
Why does my profile say that I'm online, when I'm not?
If you click the sign out button on the top of the page, your profile will no longer say "online now". Otherwise, it may say "online now" on your profile up to 20 minutes after you leave the site.

I posted a video but when I play the video, it says it is not available?
This can happen for two reasons:
- Some videos on Youtube do not allow you to embed them on other sites. If it says "Embedding disabled by request" in the Embed textbox on Youtube (to the right of the video), then the video will not be available when you post it on this site.
- If you posted the video awhile ago, it could have gotten removed from Youtube after you posted it here.
